I recently looked at the list of books I’ve read so far this year and was disappointed to find I’d only read eight. Eight! As someone who usually has a goal of reading a book a week, I’m well behind where I should be — in part because I was traveling so much the first half of the year.

I don’t expect to hit 52 by year’s end, but since that realization I feel like I’ve slipped into another reading binge — and I hope it stays that way. I’m sure a few of the books on this quarter’s list will end up among the ones on my reading pile.

For summer, I picked out nine books that stood out to me as I was looking through the publishers’ catalogs. August is always a bit of a slow month, but the one I do have listed that month is sure to be a good one. There’s a book in September I’ve also been waiting a while to read — see if you can guess which one!
